Business Development Manager with International Opportunities was the headline of the job add that caught my eye in autumn 2015. And in a company that claims to be one of the fastest growing startups in the Nordics. That’s really something also I would be interested in, I thought.
The world is full of data, but it is of no use if you cannot organize it properly.
I had already for some months followed this new interesting SaaS software company, Vainu, via different social media channels. I had not previously worked in sales, but I found Vainu’s business idea – generating leads through Internet’s open data – very interesting. The world is full of data, but it is of no use if you cannot organize it properly.
Having studied political science with special interest in political parties and democratic processes I was rather unexperienced with business issues and startups. However, I really wanted to learn and be part of building a company that I saw was totally unique. I was lucky to become part of Vainu Family and started working with amazingly smart young professionals, selling proudly the best B2B sales software in the market.
Leading a sales team was one of my longer term aims.
While working at Vainu Helsinki and learning new every day, I expressed eagerly my interest in the promised “international opportunities”. Also leading a sales team was one of my longer term aims. It was cool to notice that with help of our great sales and prospecting tool (and more experienced colleagues for sure), lots of working hours, and keen interest in understanding how society, people and companies work, it was possible to succeed in software sales.
Vainu has expanded from 20 people startup, that it was when I joined in November 2015, into an expanding growth company proceeding towards 100 employees and new markets. Our aim is to grow 15 % every month! This offers almost limitless possibilities to our whole team.
I got the chance to seize the international opportunities in Vainu’s Stockholm office where we doubled the headcount this autumn.
Also I got the chance to seize the international opportunities in Vainu’s Stockholm office where we doubled the headcount this autumn, as six new business development managers started helping the Swedish companies to sell smarter. Now I have my own hungry and hard working sales team and I am again learning huge deal of new every day. I am really looking forward to seeing some differences and similarities between the Finnish and Swedish sales cultures and organizations.
